چکیده

The overall flow of the final test of integrated circuits can be represented by the job shop model with limited simultaneous multiple resources in which various product mixes, jobs recirculation, uncertain arrival of jobs, and unstable processing times complicate the problem. Rather than relying on domain experts, this study aims to develop a hybrid approach including a mathematical programming model to optimize the testing job scheduling and an algorithm to specify the machine configuration of each job and allocate specific resources. Furthermore, a genetic algorithm is also developed to solve the problem in a short time for implementation. The results of detailed scheduling can be graphically represented as timetables of testing resources in Gantt charts. The empirical results demonstrated viability of the proposed approach. 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

A novel bi-vector encoding genetic algorithm for the simultaneous multiple resources scheduling problem

To improve capital effectiveness in light of demand fluctuation, it is increasingly important for high-tech companies to develop effective solutions for managing multiple resources involved in the production. To model and solve the simultaneous multiple resources scheduling problem in general, this study aims to develop a genetic algorithm (bvGA) incorporating with a novel bi-vector encoding me...

A scalarization-based method for multiple part-type scheduling of two-machine robotic systems with non-destructive testing technologies

This paper analyzes the performance of a robotic system with two machines in which machines are configured in a circular layout and produce non-identical parts repetitively. The non-destructive testing (NDT) is performed by a stationary robotic arm located in the center of the circle, or a cluster tool. The robotic arm integrates multiple tasks, mainly the NDT of the part and its transition bet...

Dynamic Scheduling of Batch Operations with Non-Identical Machines

Batch-wise production is found in many industries. A good example of production systems which process products batch-wise are the ovens found in aircraft industry and in semiconductor manufacturing. These systems mostly consist of multiple machines of different types, given the range and volumes of products which have to be handled. Building on earlier research in aircraft industry, where the p...

Single Machine Scheduling Problem with Precedence Constraints and Deteriorating Jobs

This paper considers the single machine scheduling problem with precedence constraints and deteriorating jobs. A mathematical model based on binary integer programming (BIP) is developed. By these precedence constraints, jobs can not start before completion of its all predecessors. The represented model is in two steps, in step one the earliest starting time of each job is computed, then the re...

Minimizing mean flowtime and makespan on master-slave systems

The master-slave scheduling model is a new model recently introduced by Sahni. It has many important applications in parallel computer scheduling and industrial settings such as semiconductor testing, machine scheduling, etc. In this model each job is associated with a preprocessing task, a slave task and a postprocessing task that must be executed in this order. While the preprocessing and pos...
